Advertising apprenticeships

Recommendations for successful apprenticeship advertisements

By carefully compiling the requirements profile and advertising your apprenticeships in a targeted manner, you increase the chance of finding suitable applicants for your company. Start planning early to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Defining the requirements profile

The requirements profile is the cornerstone for the search for the ideal apprentice. It defines the skills, knowledge and personal characteristics required for the training. Please note the following points:

  • Analysis of the activity: Identify the core competencies required for the profession.
  • Definition of requirements: Determine the professional and personal capabilities that an apprentice should have.
  • Clarity and precision: Formulate the requirements clearly and comprehensibly.

Officially advertise apprenticeships

Once the requirements profile has been created, the apprenticeship position is advertised. The process is divided into the following steps:

  • Obtain an education permit: Before you advertise apprenticeships, you need an education permit  for the relevant profession.
  • Registration with the host company portal: Register on your canton’s portal to register and amend apprenticeships.
  • Register an apprenticeship: Enter all relevant information about the apprenticeship in the portal. This includes the requirements profile, the start date of the apprenticeship and other important details.
  • Publish advertisement: Once it has been entered, your apprenticeship will be visible on the cantonal apprenticeship page and accessible to potential applicants.
Timeframes and deadlines

Apprenticeships can be registered at any time.

Apprenticeships starting in August will be published from the beginning of August (CH-de) or September (CH-fr) of the previous year on the cantonal apprenticeship websites.

Important: The list of apprenticeships is updated on an ongoing basis throughout Switzerland and refers to the year following completion of the 9th school year. This makes it easier for young people to find suitable apprenticeships and apply in good time.
