Start of VET programme

The start of the VET programme is indicated in the apprenticeship contract. It must coincide with the start of the school year at the VET school responsible for classroom instruction in the occupation in question. The competent cantonal authority may authorise exceptions in particular cases: attendance of courses outside of the canton, individual duration of the apprenticeship, etc..

The provisions of the act apply to the apprenticeship even if – unlike the legal provisions – the parties fail to sign a contract, fail to have the contract approved by the cantonal authority or if they submit it for approval late.
