VET accreditation

In order to be able to provide apprenticeship training, companies must obtain VET accreditation from the cantonal authority after they have visited the company. The authority checks whether the company employs the requisite qualified persons and trainers and ensures that the said persons have received the appropriate training in vocational pedagogy. The specific provisions for each occupation are listed in the VET ordinance issued for that occupation.

The host company must also show that it has the necessary equipment and that it can provide training in the occupation in question. An apprenticeship contract can only be approved once all the aforementioned conditions have been met.

Providers of school-based VET programmes must also obtain VET accreditation from the canton.
