Transition from lower- to upper-secondary level

The transition from lower- to upper-secondary level is generally referred to as Transition I. The school-to-work transition is referred to as Transition II.

The main objective of the EDK Transition project was to ensure that 95% of young people under the age of 25 obtained an upper-secondary level qualification by 2015. In addition to the cantons, the professional organisations and the Confederation were involved in the project. The work led to recommendations from the EDK.
