Trade school

Trade schools offer school-based VET programmes. In addition to classroom instruction, i.e. vocational instruction plus instruction in language, communication and society (LCS), they also provide practical training to learners. The proportion of trade schools is higher in French and Italian-speaking regions of Switzerland than in the German-speaking parts. Trade schools are generally attached to vocational training centre or to a VET school.

There is a final examination at the end of the school-based VET programme at a trade school after which learners are awarded a protected vocational qualification.
