Three- or four-year VET programmes for the Federal VET Diploma

Learning takes place in three learning locations: the VET school, the host company and the branch training centre. The training content, performance objectives and the distribution of training content to the three learning locations are all stipulated in the training plan that accompanies each VET ordinance issued by the Confederation.

Three- or four-year VET programmes lead to issuance of the Federal VET Diploma. This qualification certifies that holders are capable of meeting the requirements of the occupation.

Preparation for the Federal Vocational Baccalaureate (FVB) examination may be carried out either during the VET programme or after the Federal VET Diploma has been obtained.

More advanced education and training opportunities – professional education and job-related continuing education and training (CET) – are available to holders of a Federal VET Diploma.
