Apprenticeship certificate

At the end of the working relationship, the learner is entitled, like any worker, to a certificate from their employer. The said document should indicate the occupation learnt and the duration of the apprenticeship.

In accordance with article 330a CO, workers can ask their employer, at any time, to provide them with a certificate indicating the type and duration of the working relationship. This shorter version of the employment certificate is commonly called a “work certificate”.

The apprenticeship certificate generally contains information on the skills, performance and behaviour of the apprentice. At the request of the learner or his?/?her legal representative, the host company may issue only a certificate.

The Federal VET Diploma or Federal VET Certificate, issued by the canton to learners who pass the final examination, does not replace the apprenticeship certificate.
