Module-based learning

Learning concepts that are based on a credit transfer system mainly concern professional competences. The system is comprised of various modules, which each correspond to a competence and can be completed as such. All modules or completed units match the requirements for obtaining a vocational or professional qualification.

Module-based learning is mainly found in tertiary-level professional education and in job-related continuing education and training (CET). By way of example, CET courses for carpenters are offered in the form of module-based learning.

In upper-secondary level VET programmes, module-based learning is offered to adults in the watchmaking industry, in occupations covered by Swissmem as well as in housekeeping.
