INSOS (Social institutions for disabled persons)
INSOS is a national association that looks after the interests of disabled persons. Bodies, which are generally private, representing hundreds of institutions throughout Switzerland, are affiliated with INSOS. Disabled persons are cared for in places where they can live and work; they can enrol in VET programmes and work within a protected environment.
INSOS has designed a VET programme – emphasising practical training aspects – which is intended for disabled persons who are not able to enrol in a formal VET programme. Depending on the disabled person’s competences, this practical training programme prepares the person to provide ancillary work in the private sector or in a sheltered workshop. The qualifications awarded are not federally recognised under VPETA.
