Free time
Free time is the time that the learner does not spend at the company and VET school. It is to be used to relax; this time is to be spent however the learner and their parents choose.
The law gives employers few possibilities of influencing the use of learners’ free time (rights attached to privacy). However, the apprentice is not entitled to engage in activities during their free time that would harm the company or undermine their training.
If a real danger were to exist, the host company or the VET trainer in charge would organise a meeting with the apprentice and, where applicable, with their legal representative to find a solution. In serious cases, the employer might terminate the apprenticeship contract on justified grounds. In the event of a dispute, the matter may be referred to the courts.
