VET advisory bodies

Pursuant to article 69 VPETA, the Federal Council has established a Federal Commission for Vocational and Professional Education and Training (EBBK). This body advises the federal authorities on matters concerning the development and coordination of vocational and professional education and training as well as its harmonisation with general education policy.

In the majority of cantons, cantonal regulations on VET provide for the creation of a vocational education and training commission or council. The work of the said body varies from one canton to the next. The commission is often consulted by the executive authorities but in many cases it also has decision-making powers.

Professional organisations also often have their own specialised bodies, referred to as VET committees, whose role is to pursue corresponding VET activities.
