Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER)

The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) replaced the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (FDEA) on 1 January 2013.

The EAER is the highest supervisory and implementation authority for Swiss vocational and professional education and training. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) are part of the EAER. SERI is responsible for vocational and professional education and training and SECO is responsible for worker protection, among other things.
