Examiners

Examiners are appointed by the cantonal authority based on a proposal from a professional organisation. Their task is to prepare and carry out all or part of the examinations.

They are qualified persons who are recruited from among VET trainers and VET school teachers. They must be holders of a Federal VET Diploma, or equivalent qualification, in the occupational field for which the examination is to take place.

Examiners have received qualified training in their occupational field and possess adequate teaching, methodological and educational expertise. They attend special courses organised by the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET) in collaboration with the cantons and professional organisations.

Chief examiners are responsible for the organisation and smooth running of the examinations in their occupation. To this effect, they use the experience they have acquired as VET trainers and examiners.
