Employment Act (EmpA)

The Federal Act of 13 March 1964 on Employment in Business, Trade and Industry (Employment Act, EmpA, SR 822.11, revised on 20 March 1998) largely applies to working relationships. EmpA falls within the scope of public law and contains provisions on the protection of workers in public and private companies. These provisions concern health protection and accident prevention, working hours and rest period, the protection of young workers, pregnant women and mothers who breastfeed. EmpA provisions are generally binding and therefore monitored.
