Contracting parties

The learner and employer are the contracting parties in the apprenticeship contract. In other words, they are the partners who abide by their respective contractual obligations. The legal representative of the learner (i. e. usually a parent) is not a party to the apprenticeship contract. When the apprenticeship contract is signed, the parents nevertheless act as the learner's legal representatives or at least have to give their consent for the contract to be signed. The cantonal VET office, which is required to approve the apprenticeship contract, is not a party to the contract either.
