Change in apprenticeship position

As a general rule, an apprenticeship contract is signed for the entire duration of the VET programme. However, a change in apprenticeship position may be necessary if:

  • the company’s situation does not enable it to provide apprenticeship training;
  • the apprentice realises that he?/?she has not made the right career choice;
  • the VET trainer and apprentice do not get along;
  • the contractual relationships are severely disrupted for other reasons.

Any change in an apprenticeship position must be approved by the local cantonal VET office.

In agricultural occupations, tradition dictates that the apprenticeship is carried out in several companies, often in two different linguistic regions. A contract must be signed for each portion of the apprenticeship. The contracts are signed at the start of the apprenticeship and cover the full duration of the VET programme.
